This church is something else.

Okay, sooo... Today a few friends and I went to a friends house. My friends name is Jim. He is a Pastors kid and they live next door to the church. We went to his house and decided "hhmmmm... there is absolutly nothing to do here." so Jim said "Hey lets go listen to my brother's band practice over at the church". So we walk over, as soon as I walk in all I hear is a horrible bass guitarist. It was horrible. Then after a while John (Jim's brother) walks over to the sound booth and pops in a cd. It started playing and all I could hear was some kind of screaming satanic rock type crap. And I'm like " What is that?" and they just laugh at me and smile. "Jim why would you play something like that? Let alone in a church?" Jim yells (mockingly) across the auditorium above the screaming noise to John "Hey John why are you playing such satanic music in a church? Haha" John shrugs and turns to talk to his "band" members. Me and Jim walk around the church so I can see everything and how the classes are set up. We walk down stairs and he takes me to the teen room where there are band posters on the wall and couches and bean bags and magazines everywhere. "Where does he preach from?" I ask. "Oh he sits in that recliner and we just talk and hangout." Says Jim. "Oh okay well thats kinda weird" I replied.
We walk back up stairs and all I can hear is this horrible sqealing bass guitar and this rock music. Jim and I sit in the back row of seats. I ask him " Why is there a drum set, bass guitar, and electric guitar up there" Jim replies" Oh we use those for music on Sundays and Wednesdays" Im thinking "WHAT!" and apparently he could read it on my face because he then said "What? does that weird you out?" "Uuhh.. YEAH" (it was really wierd I had never been to a church that uses drum sets and bass and electric guitars I was freaking out) but yeah I then ask" What do you guys sing?" He said" Contemporary" I replied "Okay well then why do you have these hymnal (pulling it out from underneath the seat)?" Laughingly he said " Oh those (takes it out of my hand), We keep those for looks" "Uh why" Haha"Idk". He then asks "What kind of music do you guys sing?" I reply " Hymns like these (I begin flipping through the pages of the hymnal)" Jim laughs "Well thats lame." We then some how got on the topic of camp songs. and he was telling me how he goes to Camp Brosend (we had a retreat there once [just us though]) and they sing contemporary too. He said "What kind do you sing?" I replied "Well we sing.......(I began humming to try to remember some of the songs from camp) well we also sing (Started humming a different one trying to remember)...... Ummm.... well I cant really think of any give me a minute to think hmmmm...." "Okay I cant come up with any for the life of me uughhh.... whatever." But yeah we started talking about the church again I ask a few more questions and he gave me a few more answers. by this time im sitting here in tears thinking how could you worship God like this. Jim ask " Are you okay? I replied "No, Im so confused. Im soooo... Confused I just dont get it." He laughingly said "I told you, were very relaxed and laid back here."

I was sooo.... confused I didn't understand how someone could worship God like that. I have never seen a church like that. It was horrible I was sitting there in tears thinking Why would they want to have church like that and the only thing I could think of was the Olivers singing The Old Preacher Man (They found other churches, more modern day preachers who were willing to let things go by.) This church was "something else".

I thank God for a Church that keeps things "Old Fashioned"
